Osheaga 2011! CAMPBELL, please read!

Hey geckos!

Many of you have heard about the Osheaga. For those of you who haven’t:

Osheaga is a unique and eclectic music and arts festival staged in the breath-taking environs of Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène, an island of tranquility set in the middle of the bustle of one of North America’s most exciting cities. The festival was inaugurated in 2006 with the intention of offering a world-class European-style festival to Canadians and to showcase Montreal’s acclaimed local talent alongside some of the industry’s biggest names. The artist line-up was designed to present a mix of today’s most avant-garde emerging artists juxtaposed against those internationally known artists who appeal to the most discerning music lover. The festival founders also sought to provide fans with an unparalleled experience by offering them the best music, the best food and concessions, an eco-conscious approach, and by limiting the corporate presence to those who contribute to the spirit of the festival.

In its first three years, Osheaga has been an unqualified success, attracting over 70,000 music fans to sets by The Killers, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, k-os, Malajube, Patrick Watson, The Smashing Pumpkins, Arctic Monkeys, Gotan Project, Bloc Party and Feist, among others. Influence Magazine praised the festival: “Excellent bands, an ambiance to make other festivals green with envy, social and environmental consciousness…a superb music and arts festival.” “Osheaga succeeds in concocting a program that is at once eclectic and cohesive”, observed La Presse.

This summer in Montreal, from July 29th - 31st (Friday to Sunday), the Osheaga is promising the best artists and even better time!

This summer at Osheaga you can see:

EMINEM•KID CUDI•ELVIS COSTELLO & THE IMPOSTERS

THE FLAMING LIPS•DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE

THE TRAGICALLY HIP•DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979

•BRIGHT EYES•CITY AND COLOUR

RATATAT•KARKWA•SAM ROBERTS BAND

MALAJUBE•BRAN VAN 3000•BEIRUT

AND MANY OTHERS!

SO, why am I telling this? Because I found out that A LOT of people from Campbell are going there! Why wouldn’t we make it a summer event? All the geckos who want to go, plan on going and know that they are going for sure, contact me aka Nick Sleptov via Facebook or on nick.sleptsov@gmail.com

The tickets cost:

2-Day Classic Pass and Single Day Tickets go onsaleThursday, April 21st at noon, subject to availabilityfollowing the onsale of 3-Day Festival Passes.

I would highly recommend buying a 3 day pass, it is cheaper and way more convenient.

Again now, why am I telling you this about all that? Because it would be neat to meet up all together and spend time in Montreal(one of the best cities on the planet ;).

It would be even better to live in the same hotel, however, many complications arise, the biggest one being that everyone lives in different places.

BUT! If enough people are going, I will try my best to organize one hotel for everyone and maybe even couple tours around the city!

It is a unique experience that you will probably never forget. If you are interested, PLEASE, contact me any time! If you want to bring friends, you are more than welcome!
